'Bongani Zungu has so much talent' says Lebohang 'Cheeseboy' Mokoena

Zungu, one of The Brazilians’ best players in the first half of the last campaign before he suffered a season-ending injury, will play for Primeira Liga side Vitoria de Guimaraes next season.

Mokena is full of praise for the 23-year-old Bafana Bafana international.

“The boy has got so much talent,” Cheeseboy tells snl24.com/kickoff. “He’s got respect for his game. He listens to the older guys. I remember telling him that I wish he wouldn’t stay long in the country.

“I told him, whatever offer came, he should grab it and it happened exactly like that.”

Mokoena also heaps praise on the ‘CBD’ combination of Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keegan Dolly following their amazing season.

The trio were instrumental in Downs’ league and cup double success and Mokoena says their importance cannot be stressed enough.

“I think they are excellent, quality, quality players,” he adds.

“They could take the team from zero and put it up there. Out of nothing they would come up with something for the team. They did exceptionally well and I’ve got too much respect for them.”

Mokoena, himself a player that was once touted as having so much potential, is now leaving Sundowns for a new challenge after being released.

The 29-year-old also reserved special praise for Vuyo Mere, Surprise Moriri and Elias Pelembe.

“No hard feelings to the other guys [I played with] but those three brought out something special in me,” he concludes.
