Cape Town City have been slapped with a hefty fine by the PSL Disciplinary Committee.
DStv Premiership side Cape Town City have been handed a R100 000 fine by the PSLDC after failing to produce player registration cards during last month's 3-2 league win over Maritzburg United.
The Team of Choice played the match under protest after the Citizens failed to produce valid registration cards, which were reported to have been stolen from a club official's vehicle ahead of the encounter.
The Cape-based outfit were subsequently found guilty of contravening rule 4.10 and the official sanction was officially handed down on the club on Wednesday.
Statement from the PSLDC on Cape Town City's sanction:
The sanction as determined by the Disciplinary Committee of the league is as follows:
1. The respondent, which is Cape Town City Football Club is fined R100 000, half of which is suspended for a period of 12 months on condition that the said club is not found guilty of the offense, and the balance of the 50% is payable within 30 days of the date of the ruling.
2. The PSL is to return the protest fee to the protesting club, which is Maritzburg United Football Club.
3. Cape Town City Football Club is ordered to pay the costs of the Disciplinary Hearing to the PSL;
4. Cape Town City Football Club is ordered to pay the cost of Maritzburg United on an attorney and own client scale for the hearing of the 12th of January only.
