Carling Black Label Cup, Shell Helix Ultra Cup to take place in 2019

accreditation

Kaizer Chiefs are set to meet arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday, 27 July while Mamelodi Sundowns could be replaced in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.

The Carling Cup could not take place last year due to the FIFA World Cup as AB InBev, the brewing company that owns Black Label, are also in charge of Budweiser, the beer that was an official partner in Russia.

According to a very reliable source at Stadium Management SA, both cups will take place this year.

"Black Label is here 27 July. It's going to be Chiefs versus Pirates. In the Shell Cup it's going to be Chiefs and Cape Town City. No confirmation yet for a date on that one because there's this issue of AFCON," the source tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Negotiations are currently underway between organisers and Cape Town City to replace Sundowns, who won the Shell Cup last year.

Another source at The Citizens confirmed that negotiations were going on behind the scenes.

"Yes, it's a possibility," the source adds. "The chairman [John Comitis] is busy discussing details with them."
