Chippa United explain King Ndlovu situation

Former Black Leopards goalkeeper King Ndlovu had widely been tipped to join Orlando Pirates but is reportedly set to join Chippa United instead.

Nlodivu parted ways with Leopards back in April following a fallout with the club and was subsequently linked with a free transfer to Pirates ahead of the 2021/22 season.

However, news broke this past week that the 28-year-old had opted to join the Chilli Boys rather than hold out for a contract offer from the Buccaneers.

According to a source, the player is set to jet into Gqeberha next week to finalise the move after agreements were made verbally.

"Yes, the club did make contact with Ndlovu, and what's left now is for the player to meet the management by next week in Port Elizabeth. A deal was agreed on the phone but nothing has been signed yet," an insider at the club tells

Chippa team manager Morgan Mammila says player movements are not finalised as yet as this is now dependent on newly appointed head coach Gavin Hunt.

"No. Not yet [the club has not signed Ndlovu yet]. We are waiting for the coach, we must respect the coaches. Those we've signed, we signed before he came in, you know. But he is the one that must choose players that he thinks will take the team forward," he insists.

Should the move be completed, Ndlovu will have to battle for his place with the likes of Ismail Watenga, Ayanda Mtshali, Mlungisi Mazibuko and Kwanele Nkabi for the number-one jersey.
