Morgan Mammila has shared his thoughts about what led to Chippa United sinking to their first defeat since he took over as caretaker coach.

Chippa suffered a 2-1 loss away at Cape Town City on Tuesday in what was the first time that they didn’t take all three points since Mammila took charge of the dressing room.

Under Mammila who has traded his administrative role at the club for coaching, Chippa had won four games in a row including victory over Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu before coming stuck in the Mother City.

"I think we had a plan against a Cape Town City team that is not afraid to lose," Mammila said.

"They stick to their plan no matter what, so they are a team that has strong wingbacks on the left and right.

"We spent too much time defending those two full-backs.

"After winning the ball we didn’t rotate it enough so that we can create space especially in the spaces left by the two wingbacks.

"We only did it once, and we got it right and even scored and after that we couldn’t do better.

"But then it is one of those games that we played a better team, and we will rectify the mistakes and move on to Richards Bay who are a good team.

"They rely on transition, but we have a plan for them.

"We expect a 50/50 game, but the ball possession will help us in the next coming games.

"We need to control the game and I’m happy that we are a team that has scored five games in a row, so scoring is not a problem now," says Mammila.

Chippa will host Richards Bay in their next game on Sunday before a two-month long break.
