Daniel Akpeyi could be offered new long-term contract at Kaizer Chiefs

Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi joined Amakhosi in January this year from Chippa United on a 17-month contract but will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club in December this year.

Akpeyi has confirmed his short-term contract with Amakhosi but no decision has yet been taken on whether the club will extend it for a longer period.

However, considering the long-term injury to Itumeleng Khune, Chiefs are believed to be preparing a new long-term contract to keep the 33-year-old at Naturena beyond the end of the season.

"I am settling in gradually and I should say it's unfortunate that I might decide if I am staying or leaving because my contract is short," Akpeyi tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I am settling in and so I don't know if probably I will have more chance to stabilise [my position in the team] or probably would be another thing if the team is making another choice."
