DStv Premiership match report Chippa United v Golden Arrows 04 December 2021

accreditation

Golden Arrows registered back-to-back wins for the first time this season after defeating Chippa United 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Abafana Besthende decided to stick with the eleven that edged Baroka FC last Sunday, but Chippa on the other hand saw Jemondre Dickens as their only alteration.

The unchanged stall from Arrows were justified six minutes gone as Michael Gumede finished off a loose ball from a cutback by Pule Mmodi with Nduduzo Sibiya instigating the whole move.

Chippa looked to hit back immediately after a ball into the six-yard area from the left-side met the head of Bienvenu Eva Nga, who nodded wide of the intended target.

Abafana Besthende continued to invite the host as Mogakolodi Ngele curled a shot from the far post after going around the defence over target well inside the half-hour mark.

The Chilli Boys levelled ten minutes to halftime after a hold-up play from Dickens trickled into the path of Nga to net the equaliser.

Sibiya almost led the visitors back on level terms with a cross into the box for Gumede to capitalise but the latter was astoundingly denied by goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali.

Following a balanced start to the second period, Arrows regained the lead 52 minutes in when Mmodi finished off a cutback from Sibiya following smart build-up play from the back.

Chippa were very close to draw level midway in the second period through Sandile Mthethwa’s strong attempt, but Nkosingiphile Gumede was up to the task.

The visitors looked to clinch the tie with a triple change in Knox Mutizwa, Andile Fikizolo and Velemseni Ndwandwe in the closing exchanges.

With a minute to go, Chippa were handed a penalty after Sbonelo Cele handled in the area following an attempt but Gumede denied Ngele to steer his side to victory.
