AmaZulu are still searching for their first win under Romain Folz as they drew 0-0 with Marumo Gallants FC in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening.

There were no changes were enforced by Gallants despite their loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, but Usuthu restored Larry Bwalya and Ethan Brooks from Sunday’s MTN8 semi-final with Kaizer Chiefs.

Not a lot separated the host and their counterparts from the KwaZulu-Natal province in the opening exchanges where a lot of possession turnovers and misplaced passes occurred.

Marumo appeared more lively on the ball a little to the half-hour mark with runs out wide from Katlego Otladisa and Lesiba Nku causing issues to the visitors.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa were close to the breakthrough shortly before halftime when a one-two on the near side of the area by Celimpilo Ngema and Nku forced Veli Mothwa to parry for a corner-kick.

After a pretty a quiet start to the second half, Usuthu decided to freshen up their stall and Mxolisi Kunene came on for Brooks before Sphesihle Maduna slotted in for Gabadinho Mhango.

Usuthu looked to take total control of proceedings a few minutes later from a teasing delivery and a teasing move towards target by Maduna though Gallants managed to clear their lines.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa weren’t unfazed by the threats from Usuthu and with 20 minutes to go nearly broke the deadlock when Kunene cleared Lucky Mohomi’s header following a corner-kick off the line.

AmaZulu should’ve grabbed the points in the dying seconds through a glancing header in the box by Kunene following a cross from the right-side, but he went wide and goalless it finished at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
