DStv Premiership match report Royal AM v TS Galaxy 26 September 2021

High-flying Royal AM took hold of fourth spot on the DStv Premiership standings with a 4-2 demolition of ten-man TS Galaxy at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.

Marks Munyai, Wayde Lekay, Ethan Brooks and Pogiso Sanoka came into the Galaxy starting lineup. Meanwhile, Royal remained unchanged.

Royal AM took the lead in the third minute when they capitalised on a mistake from Galaxy. Marks Munyai underhit his back pass meant for keeper Wensten van der Linde which MacBeth Mahlangu let past him and Tshidiso Monamodi sneaked in ahead of van der Linde to poke the ball into the back of the net.

Things went from bad to worse for Galaxy and for Munyai in particular when he was shown a straight red in the 13th minute for his stamp on Monamodi close to the touchline.

Shauwn Mkhize's side made it 2-0 in the 28th minute when Tebogo Potsane fed the ball to Levy Mashiane just outside the box and he did well to dribble past his marker and fire the ball past Van der Linde into the bottom right-hand corner.

Owen da Gama's side were looking very shaky at the back and conceded their third shortly before half-time when Zukile Mkhize crossed in from the right-hand side to the near post for Victor Letsoalo who completed a neat first-time finish into the roof of the net from close range at the near post using the pace of the ball brilliantly.

Van der Linde made a tremendous double save to deny Royal AM their fourth. A brilliant long pass from Given Mashikinya found Keagan van der Ross, who hit against the bar via a touch from Van der Linde before the Rockets shot-stopper did brilliantly to get back on his feet and save once again with the feet from Mfundo Thikazi's follow-up.

A minute later, Galaxy had a chance to make it 3-1 when Mereko handballed from Mogaila's attempted pass into the box and Sanoka made no mistake from the spot as he sent Royal keeper Hugo Myame the wrong way.

Just when Da Gama's men thought they had a chance Mlungisi Mbunjana played a suicidal quick free kick just outside his box to Igor Makitan but Kabelo Mahlasela saw it coming a mile away and intercepted before running towards goal and thundering a left-footed effort into the roof of the net.

The Rockets mentor would see his side pull a goal back and cut the deficit to two when Luckyboy Mokoena's cross from the right was headed in by captain Mxolisi Machuphu but it was in the final minute of stoppage and a little too late.
