Sekhukhune United extended their winless run in the DStv Premiership to three matches following a 1-1 draw against Chippa United on Saturday afternoon.
Babina Noko showed one new face from their win over Cape Town Spurs in the Nedbank Cup in Sammy Seabi, as the Chilli Boys signaled one change too from their last match in Andile Mbenyane.
Seabi could’ve justified his inclusion in the opening exchanges with a glancing header from Victor Letsoalo’s curling ball following a free-kick on the far side, but the midfielder missed.
Brandon Truter’s men finally made their dominant start count over 26 minutes when Chibuike Ohizu headed a chipped cross from Roderick Kabwe in off the ground and in the top corner.
However, the lead was short-lived and lasted but two minutes as Etiosa Ighodaro ran in at the near post and slotted a low cross from the right through the gloves of Toaster Nsabata.
Sekhukhune almost restored the lead through an over-head kick by Vusimuzi Mncube minutes later following a layoff outside the area, but Stanley Nwabili palmed away for a corner-kick.
As the first half flew by, the second stanza started with the Chilli Boys bringing on Matome Mathiane from the substitutes bench in the place of Mbenyane.
There were a few openings orchestrated by the respective outfits earlier from the resumption, as the contest remained balanced notably in the defensive compartment.
Sekhukhune still though enjoyed the bulk of possession and forward play, but the defensive-block that the Chilli Boys applied made it difficult for the host to find openings.
Babina Noko kept piling forward and missed a golden chance to take all points in added time when Kabwe had a spot-kick saved by Nwabili after Roscoe Pietersen’s hand-ball, as the encounter finished all square at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
