DStv Premiership match report SuperSport United v Marumo Gallants 20 November 2021

Marumo Gallants FC handed Dan Malesela a winning start after defeating SuperSport United 2-1 on Saturday evening.

Matsatsantsa showed a debut to Kegan Johannes and started a front-three of Bradley Grobler, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Ghampani Lungu as Gallants began life under Dan Malesela.

The offensive structure from Kaitano Tembo paid instant dividends after Gabuza popped up at the back-post to unleash a close-range finish that beat Washington Arubi hands down on four minutes.

It could’ve been two for United following 17 minutes through the head of Grobler, but Arubi saved after good work on the left flank by Guily Manziba.

Gallants started to get in the thick of things after two minutes and at that worked Ronwen Williams to a save from Sere Dion’s attempt before Celimpilo Ngema dragged a loose shot wide later on.

Matsatsantsa succumbed to the visitors pressure inside 37 minutes and allowed Dion to apply a close-range finish to level the contest.

A forced substitution presumably through injury four minutes later required United to remove Buhle Mkhwanazi and introduce Siyabonga Nhlapo.

SuperSport allowed a clear chance to regain their lead minutes in the second half go beyond them as Lungu slammed a loose ball from a decent area wide of the mark.

The threats from Tembo’s charges didn’t end there with Jamie Webber showing exciting piece of skill on the right-side for an opening, but nothing worthwhile materialised.

Gallants struck the winner in the final minutes when Lerato Lamola applied a nice finish to see them to their first victory of the season and under Dan Malesela.
