TS Galaxy got their first win of the year in fine style after thrashing Golden Arrows 4-0 on Sunday evening.
Having gone off in the first half against Marumo Gallants FC, defender Themba Mantshiyane was ready enough to start again for Abafana Besthende with Vasilije Kolak in goal for Galaxy.
Galaxy were under pressure on six minutes and could’ve trail with a low shot from Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo off a tight angle, but Kolak produced a save to keep matters level.
The Rockets showed up after a difficult start and camped in the half of Abafana Besthende which in-turn needed a few saves from goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana too.
Mlungwana didn’t cover himself in glory a minute to the half-hour mark when he failed to smother Orebotse Mongae finding the net from a goal-mouth scramble.
Galaxy made it two in the final minutes to halftime after Lifa Hlongwane’s assist met Bernard Parker and the former Kaizer Chiefs man made no mistake with a stern finish.
Abafana Besthende brought on a double substitution before the second half in Ryan Moon for Nduduzo Sibiya and Velemseni Ndwandwe ahead of Lungelo Dube.
The Rockets made the visitors comeback pursuit more difficult when Sphiwe Mahlangu bagged his side’s third with a finish from the far post of the six-yard area.
However, Arrows looked to pull one back before the closing quarter through a smart effort from close-range by Moon but Kolak parried the forward.
Moon was it again where he looked to unsettle the visitors resolve once with a snap shot from a clear opening, but the Rockets held their lines well.
Galaxy rounded off the scoring four minutes from time when Nkosikhona Radebe finished off Mlungisi Mbunjana’s delivery and put Abafana Besthende out of their misery.
