TS Galaxy and Sekhukhune United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

McBeth Mahlangu and Xola Mlambo were handed starts after the 2-2 draw against Kaizer Chiefs, while Toaster Nsabata, Sello Motsepe and Siyabulela Shai  were among the changes for Sekhukhune.

Kaitano Tembo’s men showed the early intent, with Daniel Cardoso heading wide from a corner-kick before a snap shot on the edge of the area from captain Linda Mntambo fizzled beyond target.

The Rockets sprung to life and went in front minutes to the half-hour mark when Mlambo pounced on a howler from Nsabata following Bernard Parker’s shot and tapped in on the rebound.

Nsabata redeemed himself eight minutes to halftime after he rushed off his line and punched a pin-point cross from the right off the head of a lurking Junior Traore.

Babina Noko got a reprieve two minutes later when a shove by Given Msimango on Shai led to a penalty, and up stepped Victor Letsoalo to convert and made it 1-1.

Galaxy went for two changes at halftime in Lindokuhle Mbatha and Lifa Hlongwane in a bid to restore their advantage and grab a foot-hold of proceedings.

The Rockets were close to the lead when Mbatha’s mazy run brought Bathusi Aubaas in to dink over the on-rushing Nsabata, but it was cleared off the line.

Sekhukhune showed resistance and fighting spirit minutes gone, but were let off the hook when Aubaas got on the end of a cutback in the centre of the area and dragged wide with the goal gaping.

Babina Noko threatened again after an underwhelming spell and saw Mntambo’s rasping shot from the edge of the area force an acrobatic palm from Nsabata.

Sekhukhune had a late chance to seal the points through Nkanyisa Madonsela from a tight angle, but Melusi Buthelezi saved as finished all square.
