Eric Tinkler wary of Jabu Maluleke threat

Tinkler is targeting maximum points in all six of their remaining home games for Maritzburg to get out of the relegation zone, and is wary of the threat posed by Rise and Shine.

The coach also feels the whole Polokwane team will give his side a tough challenge, but singled out their creative midfielder.

"It won't be easy, in fact there are no more easy games for us. They have Maluleke who is very good and a big threat when it comes to set-pieces," he said.

Tinkler is desperate for a win on Friday after failing to get points against his former side and log leaders Bidvest Wits last week.

"In our last game there were more positives than negatives, unfortunately we didn't win, but the team played well, and now we are focusing on getting those points," he continued.

"We are playing against a very good team in Polokwane City, they had a good season so far and are currently sitting in the top eight."

The Team of Choice have to close a five-point gap to the teams above them and Tinkler wants to start winning home games, which are important morale-boosters for any struggling club.

"We need to win on Friday, close that gap to put pressure on Chippa United and Baroka FC. Our home games are a must-win, then we can get motivation from there," he explained.

The former Orlando Pirates coach also believes any team outside the top eight is still under pressure and not yet safe.

"Two back-to-back losses for teams in the bottom eight can change lots of things so we need to start collecting points to capitalise on their misfortunes."

Tinkler also hinted that the team will go back to the formation that helped them finish in the top four last season.

"We are looking at playing three at the back to give our attackers freedom so they can create more chances. This time we have to score, there's no time left."
