Erick Chipeta and Joaquim Lupeta feeling welcome at Ajax Cape Town

Chipeta and Lupeta are two new faces in the Urban Warriors team, having been brought in from Chippa United and Bidvest Wits respectively, with the former happy after his first session under head coach Roger de Sa.

“The coach called us all in before training and pointed out what a good team we already have,” he told his club’s official website. “Personally, he told me that he just wants me to take some time to fit in and get comfortable, then we’ll speak about expectations.

“The guys all took the time to get to know the new guys and we had a lot of fun on the first day.

“Everything went well. I get the feeling from other guys that everyone is raring to go for the new season. All of the guys did their best with every exercise, so we’ll be ready to get to the next level very soon,” he added.

Portuguese forward Lupeta has already made an impact, earning the nickname ‘The Beast’ due to his athletic build, and is looking forward to his new adventure in the Cape.

“The first training was all about us starting to move again and getting loosened up,” he said. “My teammates already call me ‘The Beast’ so we have bonded well. They are a friendly group of guys. They’ve welcomed me and spoke with me on the field in terms of what they want from me and what I’m good at.

“I’ve spoken a little bit with some of the guys about where I want the ball and where I make my runs. Overall I liked my first day very much.”

Ajax will hope their new recruits will help them finish above their disappointing 10th-place finish in the League last season.
