Free State Stars' Denis Lavange is out of the running for the post of Guinea coach

Lavagne, who joined Stars last month, did appear on a list of 15 coaches being considered by Guinea for the position, though it is unknown whether he actually applied or whether his name had been put forward by a third party.

A Stars source told on Friday they were unfazed by his name being in the running, and they now have nothing to worry about as Guinea will look elsewhere.

They have narrowed it down to the French pair of Jean-Marc Nobilo and Bernard Simondi, German Gernot Rohr, Paul Put from Belgium and Mohammed Kanfory Bangoura, who was assistant to former coach Luis Fernandez.

Lavange is a former coach of Cameroon and takes over at Stars from the Italian Giovanni Solinas, who quit at the end of last season for personal reasons.
