Gavin Hunt open to helping Phakamani Mahlambi

Mahlambi has, according to SoccerLaduma, been training in isolation in Durban following the end of a rather unsuccessful loan spell at AmaZulu last season, during which he made just three appearances.

The 23-year-old's contract with Sundowns only expires in 2023 but it seems both parties are willing to negotiate an amicable separation.

The speedy attacker played his best football under Hunt at the now defunct Bidvest Wits, and even earned himself a big move to African football giants Al Ahly of Egypt back in 2017.

Since he returned from North Africa, Mahlambi's football career has been marred by ill- discipline, which has previously been criticised by coaches Benni McCarthy and Manqoba Mngqithi.

"I liked him but he has problems, I hear. Sure [we could sign him], but he will have to take a pay cut and be ready to prove himself again, if he wants to. His living habits needs to improve, but I can help him."
