Highlands Park Gordon Igesund welcomes morale boost following Orlando Pirates draw

Highlands drew 0-0 with Pirates in Tembisa on Saturday, and consequently moved off the foot of the table with six matches left.

The Lions of the North are just above Baroka on goal difference with both sides on 21 points from 24 games.

"I am disappointed we never got the three points," said Igesund.

"I think we dominated the game for long periods, especially in the first half. We played football, we kept possession, moved the ball around and made them work hard. We were excellent in the first half.

"We dominated and we had chances. It was always going to be difficult to play against Pirates. They have so much quality in their side. Coming to this game they had momentum. They scored six goals in the last two games. This point is huge even though we wanted the three points."

He added: "The point is great because it takes us off the bottom of the log. Psychologically it’s a good thing and we can look forward to the next game.”

Igesund's charges next visit fellow strugglers Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium on April 25.
