Stellenbosch FC's goal machine and NFD top scorer Iqraam Rayners is more focused on helping the team gain automatic promotion than personal glory.
The Cape Town-based club is sitting pretty on top of the log and will win the National First Division title if they beat Maccabi FC in their final game on Sunday.
A draw could also be enough if second-placed Royal Eagles don't beat Ubuntu Cape Town away by a big margin, and Rayners admit the title is theirs to lose now.
"Look I feel we are in pole position. The ball is in our court now, we just have to win and sure we will be crowned champions,” Rayners tells snl24.com/kickoff.
The 23-year-old who, played as a defender last season before being converted into a striker by his coach Steve Barker, is the NFD's top scorer with 19 goals.
"So far the season has been good for me personally and for the team as a whole... look for any striker it's good to win the golden boot but for me winning promotion with Stellenbosch is more important boss," Rayners insists.
"Winning the golden boot will just be the cherry on top. I was at Stellenbosch last season and I played mostly as a right-back but near the end of the season our coach Steve Barker played me up front and I ended up scoring 12 goals till the end of the season."
Interestingly, unlike previous seasons' NFD leading scorers, Rayners has not been strongly linked with top Absa Premiership sides as it happened to the likes of Sedwyn George, Peter Shalulile, David Zulu and Mwape Musonda in the past.
But Rayners seems to not be bothered by all that.
"I'm not worried by the offers from other PSL teams, my main aim now is to win promotion with Stellenbosch," he adds.
