Jomo Cosmos owner and head coach Jomo Sono has warned those who are waiting to celebrate their downfall should put their champagne on ice, or simply just throw them away.
Sono is confidence his club will not get relegated on the final day of the National First Division season this Sunday.
Currently in 14th place on 32 points after 29 matches, Ezenkosi are only a point away from the relegation zone. Closest rivals Ubuntu Cape Town, who are a spot below them, have a difficult match against promotion hopefuls Royal Eagles, while Cosmos take on already relegated Witbank Spurs.
"You should look at the log where we are," Sono tells KickOff.com.
“I was expecting this because it's a new team, but you look at the log, we have 32 and Ubuntu got 31. We are left with one game each. Ubuntu is playing against Eagles and Eagles have a chance of winning the league. I think the people should keep their champagnes or they can start throwing them away now because they hoped yesterday [during the past weekend against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila] we could be relegated, and we were fortunate.
“I mean we played our best football. We missed a lot of chances, [but] we played very well. We won't be relegated, we are not even there. What makes you think we gonna be relegated? Will Ubuntu beat Eagles? What makes them to think like that? Will Ubuntu beat Eagles and Cosmos lose to Spurs? I don't understand how people think. But because there's too much hatred in football, that's how they think. But for now they can put their champagnes on ice. We are playing well.”
