The former Liverpool youth star joined Eddie Howe's Premiership team on Thursday for a reported club record fee of €18m. The 20-year old was considered one of the Kop's most promising young players and was given his first-team debut by Rodgers in 2013.

Despite his undoubted talent, the youngster was deemed surplus and allowed to move to a club where he would be certain of regular football.

In an interview with the Bournemouth official website, Ibe drew comparisons between Howe and Rodgers' approach to the game.

“It's exciting. I like the philosophy the manager has got here and there are a lot of good, young players so it's a good place for me to kick on and do well.

“The team play the same style of football as Brendan Rodgers used to play at Liverpool, which is something that I like."

The England U21 international went on to express his gratitude to his former club and the men who shaped his career.

“But this is a great opportunity for me to take another step in my career and develop as a player," he concluded.
