Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was proud of the performance against Chippa United, but feels his players may lack confidence in front of goal.

Pirates created plenty of chances in both halves but they could not find the back of the net as they narrowly lost 1-0 to the Chilli Boys, courtesy of a winner by Abdi Banda in the dying minutes.

"Well I'm sad with the result but very proud of our performance, I think we did everything in order to win, we generated the chances, kept the counter-attacks under control," Riveiro said on SuperSport TV.

"One set-piece in the end punished the guys, punished us, it's a game that we've seen many times in the football history, one team dominating, creating chances, not scoring. The other one having one chance, a set-piece in this case and getting the advantage and three points.

"Just improve the finishing, maybe we need to grow a bit more confidence in the last minutes that's the key.

"We can face the game creating clear chances and when we do that we're always going to be close to winning.

"We have to improve what we're doing and improve in the last minutes, like I said maybe it's a question of confidence but it will come."

Riveiro was asked about his side's marking after Banda powered home a free header in the dying minutes from a corner to steal maximum points for Daine Klate's charges.

"I don't know I have to check the action again, it was a good ball at least, I don't know what happened with the marking, it's something that we need to analyse now," he added.
