Kaitano Tembo unhappy with referee Phelelani Ndaba's performance against Bidvest Wits

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo described the performance of referee Phelelani Ndaba as a mess during their league match against Bidvest Wits on Saturday.

Ndaba and his assistant stole the show when they disallowed Wits' second goal after Terence Dzvukamanja's shot had crossed the line.

The referee also took everyone by surprise in a second incident at Mbombela Stadium when he gave United captain Dean Furman an undeserved red card with only 25 minutes before the end of the match.

Both Wits coach Gavin Hunt and Tembo left the pitch fuming with the referee's decisions.

"I think from the point of view of the officiating, the game was a mess from the beginning," said Tembo in his post-match interview.

"But in terms of performance from the guys I think we played well. We neutralised their threat especially from crosses and tried to dominate the second ball and also the set-pieces.

"We needed to dominate those areas and we scored from the corner. I think we had better chances especially in the second half with Aubrey Mothiba, Evans Rusuke and [Mxolisi] Macuphu.

"But I am very proud, they played well in the 25 minutes with 10 men against a team like Wits. It's not easy, they are a good team."
