Kaizer Chiefs coach forced to reshuffle defence

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp will be forced to reshuffle his backline when they face Bloemfontein Celtic at the Peter Mokaba Stadium this weekend.

Middendorp has been fairly consistent with his defensive selections, with Daniel Cardoso and Kgotso Moleko his two most prominent figures alongside either Teenage Hadebe, Mario Booysen or Ramahlwe Mphahlele in recent weeks.

But when they visit Celtic in Polokwane on Saturday, the German will have to rotate after Moleko picked up a fourth successive booking in their 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old right-back, who has missed just two of the 17 domestic games since the new coach took over from Giovanni Solinas in December, has since become a regular in his preferred three-man central defence.

However, they are certainly not short of options in the abovementioned, while the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho and young Siyabonga Ngezana are also still waiting in the wings.

With a Nedbank Cup final on the horizon, Middendorp will be wary of Cardoso and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya on the brink of suspension, along with attackers Leonardo Castro and Dumisani Zuma.
