Amakhosi have faded in the race for the league crown over the last week following a 3-2 defeat to Cape Town City and 2-2 draw at SuperSport United, with those results leaving Chiefs eight points off the summit with only four games remaining.
Parker, though, is refusing to throw in the towel and believes the three points against Abafana Bes’thende at FNB Stadium this weekend could potentially reignite their title hopes.
“We have been training hard and strategising for the game against Arrows. We need to ensure that we bag all the points and remain in contention for league honours,” he said on Chiefs’ official website.
“Winning matches is a team effort and we need all departments to give their best so that the supporters can go home with smiles on their faces.”
Meanwhile, Parker’s team-mate Tsepo Masilela has conceded Chiefs’ defenders need to do more to help the team to victory, stating that “trophies are ultimately won through solid defence”.
In both of their recent games against City and SuperSport, the Glamour Boys ended up conceding in second-half injury time, ultimately meaning three points dropped at such a vital stage of the campaign, and Masilela knows the Soweto giants need to be much stronger at the back if they are to challenge for titles.
“We’ve been playing well but a lack of concentration has led to us conceding silly goals and dropping crucial points. As defenders, we need to do much more to ensure that we win matches because trophies are ultimately won through solid defence".
