Kaizer Chiefs Platinum Stars PSL

Bernard Parker put Chiefs 1-0 up in the 21st minute, but Platinum Stars pulled one back on the stroke of halftime through Tintswalo Tshabalala. However, Musona netted teh decisive goal on 67 minutes.

Chiefs had their first chance as early as the sixth minute. Lehlohonolo Majoro beat two defenders down the right and put in a low cross and, when Stars failed to clear the ball, Siyabonga Nkosi's left footed was far off target as he couldn't connect fully.

In the 18th minute, George Lebese found space on the right flank and crossed with his right for Majoro, but the latter miscued.

Seconds later, Nkosi put Majoro one-on-one with Siyabonga Mpotshane and with the goalkeeper to beat, Majoro again failed to find the back of the net as his attempt went over the bar.

Chiefs, however, finally got on the scoresheet when Nkosi played a great pass to Parker, who needed no second invitations as he poked in from close range to give Chiefs a 1-0 lead.

Confusion reigned in the 31st minute when Majoro appeared to unfairly challenge Mpotshane and the striker thought the referee Victor Gomes had blown his whistle. Majoro soon realised that was not the case and went for the ball, crossing for Nkosi who hit the sidenetting with the goalkeeper off his line.

In the 36th minute, Parker put Nkosi through on goal but the Newcastle-born midfielder couldn't capitalise, shooting wide.

And Chiefs were made to pay for all their misses when Stars' Tintswalo Tshabalala equalised on the stroke of halftime; this after Itumeleng Khune could only parry Siphelele Mthembu’s shot.

The North West side started the second half better than they did in the first half, but no real chances were created until just after the hour-mark.

First Chiefs introduced Musona, who replaced Majoro in the 60th minute. After that, Siphelele Mthembu jumped highest in the box to head the ball down for the advancing Robert Ng'ambi whose shot in the 62nd minute was just wide.

But it was Chiefs who restored their lead through Musona's header in the 69th minute from a corner by Parker.

Two minutes later, Stars came close to another equaliser but Vuyo Mere's well taken free-kick came off the crossbar.

Stars coach Allan Freese threw caution to the wind when he made a double substitution in the 77th minute bringing in Sibusiso Msomi and Takesure Chinyama for Mogakolodi Ngele and Mduduzi Nyanda respectively.

Patrick Malokase also replaced Ng'ambi in the 82nd minute, but despite all the changes Stars made, Chiefs hang on for the win.
