Kaizer Chiefs have terminated the contract of goalkeeper Virgil Vries with immediate effect.
Amakhosi announced his departure today after Namibia international failed to win over the club's supporters following costly mistakes earlier in the season.
A club statement read: "Kaizer Chiefs continued with the process of closing off the season with an announcement of goalkeeper Virgil Vries leaving the club.
"The club confirmed that negotiations with the Namibian goalminder were concluded on Tuesday afternoon. Virgil Vries joined Chiefs on 1 July 2018 and with immediate effect (30 April) entered into a mutual termination and release agreement.
"The club thanked Vries for his contribution and wished him all the best in his future endeavours as he prepares for the upcoming Cosafa and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments with the Namibian national team."
Vries said: "It’s been a pleasure and a great experience to don the Kaizer Chiefs jersey. I thank everyone for their support during my stay at the club."
The 29-year-old played just five league games.
