Another DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) player has joined up Amakhosi’s senior training team as the side prepares to face Mamelodi Sundowns.
19-year-old Aiden McCarthy, a product of Kaizer Chiefs development and the son for Chiefs legend Fabian McCarthy was part of Chiefs’ senior team training session this week.
McCarthy is understood to be an addition to the Chiefs defence with centre-back Zitha Kwinika a doubt for the clash, indicated by his absence from the side’s training session on Thursday. Kwinika instead did light individual training as he nurses a knock.

The young centre-back joins fellow DDC graduates, Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Bandile Duba who have all got their first taste of DStv Premiership action this season and were all part of Chiefs training session this week.
This won't be the first time McCarthy has been roped in as cover, after getting his first call-up to senior team back in 2021, where he was named in the matchday squad to face Sekhukhune United, although he did not feature in the fixture.
Club head coach Arthur Zwane has indicated that the club intends to offer more opportunities to some of the academy products
"Football is a game of opportunities. We’ve got our senior players who aren’t available due to injuries and unforeseen circumstances. We had to obvious give the young guy the opportunity to express themselves," Zwane told journalists.
"At the end of the day, It’s about the future of the club. If we’re not going to give these boys the opportunity to play. When are we going to give them the opportunity in actual fact.
Amakhosi meet perhaps the hardest test yet as they come up against a Mamelodi Sundowns side on an incredible eleven-match winning streak.
The Brazilians walked with a 4-0 victory When the two teams locked horns earlier this season but Amakhosi will have history on their side, having beaten Sundowns more than any other team in the history of the PSL.
The match will kick-off at 20:00 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
