Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that Amakhosi remain in the hunt for a defensive midfielder following Njabulo Blom’s departure.
With just two days remaining in the January transfer window, Zwane has refused ruled out the possibility of Amakhosi roping in a late replacement for Njabulo Blom, who left the side in December to join MLS outfit St. Louis City.
"We keep looking for players, well never stop looking for players. As I said we’re looking for players that we think can come in and add value rather than players who will come in and just add numbers because of hasty decisions or because we're desperate," Zwane said.
"Right now, we're not desperate, so we'll wait for the right moment and when we get the number six that we think can come and add value, we’ll definitely bring him on board."

Since Blom’s departure, Amakhosi have struggled to find stability in the middle of the park and close the leaks at the back. Chiefs have conceded six goals in three games, a dilemma that’s seen the 49-year-old coach try Samkelo Zwane and Njabulo Ngcobo as defensive midfielders, with neither quite able to hold down the role as their own.
The return of Siyethemba Sithembe into the starting line-up broght Amakhosi their first win and clean sheet of the 2023 calendar year with a 2-0 victory over Royal AM.
Chiefs will return to action on Sunday with an away clash against TS Galaxy.
