Arthur Zwane’s reign at Kaizer Chiefs has already sunk the club deeper into the mud as they are now walking on another record low through their ever-present run in the PSL era years.
Saturday’s defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns was the third in a row after also suffering losses to Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu.

While AmaKhosi have lost three league games in a row in the past under Zwane (2022), Ace Khuse (2012), and Muhsin Ertugral (2001) it wasn’t without scoring like it has been the case now.
The last three results have come without any goals scored in those 270 minutes which is the first time ever that Chiefs have lost three in a row without scoring and the first time through the PSL era years that they have lost their first league games of a New Year.
When Chiefs lost three in a row last year they did score against Golden Arrows and Cape Town City and only couldn’t find the net against Stellenbosch.
Even with Khuse – who was appointed with Doctor Khumalo and Zwane as his assistants in 2012 – they scored against Santos and SuperSport United and fired blanks in the defeat to Maritzburg United.
They also lost to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup.
Then in the three defeats from December 2001 under Ertugral, which came straight after lifting the Coca-Cola Cup, Chiefs scored against SuperSport United and Hellenic before being hammered 3-0 by Orlando Pirates after which they played four consecutive draws and lost another two before finally winning against Manning Rangers.
Ertugral also lost three league games in a row, but they were spread over two seasons (one at the end of the 2007/08 season which was a 1-0 defeat to Black Leopards and the first two of the 08/09 campaign when they scored but lost to Thanda Royal Zulu and Maritzburg United).
Chiefs will be back in action on Sunday against Royal AM at FNB Stadium.
