Kaizer Chiefs legend William Shongwe remains unconvinced by the club's reported targets for next season.

The Glamour Boys are looking at recruiting Pule Mmodi [Lamontville Golden Arrows], Siphesihle Maduna [AmaZulu FC], Mduduzi Mdantsane [Cape Town City] and Junior Mendieta [Stellenbosch FC] to Naturena.

Shongwe, who was a goalkeeper for Amakhosi in the eighties, says only two of the above-mentioned players look to be the club's material.

"Mendieta yes, Mdantsane yes, but I don't know why he is not playing on a regular basis at City.

"I don't know what might be the problem," Shongwe tells KickOff.

"Mendieta looks to be the real deal. He is outstanding in a small team in that fashion and getting better and better.

"He's got this attitude of being confident, and you need it at Chiefs, you must know your story and play to your strength.

"Mendieta, for me, is top of the list to make it, that will be a good signing.

"Maduna has been promising, but he just never rises to the occasion.

"I mean from, the time that he started I thought he was going to be a real deal. But he just never took off.

"Pule Mmodi is very exciting, but can he rise to the occasion of playing for Chiefs? A lot of players have come with a lot of promise, only to disappear once they get there.

"And my only fear about him is does he have the character to play for a big team? The pressure that comes with wearing that jersey.

"For Arrows, he is very exciting, but I just doubt if he will rise to the occasion.

"Mdantsane if he was playing on a regular basis I would say yes, and the painful thing about it is he is a former Kaizer Chiefs development player, and now they have to pay for him.

"But he is not outstanding you know, when you mention a Chiefs player you must feel it from within yourself that now you are talking of a top player.

"So if he is not starting at City, what makes you think he will cut it at Chiefs? So those are my concerns about him."
