Tshabalala recently made a move to Turkish club Erzurumspor from Kaizer Chiefs, aged 33. Myeni, now a free agent after parting ways with the Clever Boys at the end of last season, says this is a story that inspires him.

The 30-year-old Myeni is on the hunt for a new club and Shabba’s move to Turkey gives him hope that he will get back on his feet.

“I always look at how they do deals overseas. A guy like Cristiano Ronaldo will get a long-term deal. I always say it’s about the talent you have and you just need to look at Shabba. I was happy for him and his story touched me, and I hope people see that age is just a number. I have a lot to offer. It’s no longer about the age, but it’s about the talent. If you can still offer something, [are] working hard and the body allows you, then why not? You can play until you feel that you are tired, not people telling you that now you need to stop. Obviously you won’t be faster than the younger players, but you are smarter than the one who is fast.”
