Steve Komphela happy that Itumeleng Khune responded to critics with Brazil heroics

Khune was on the recieving end of plenty critics regarding his selection to the Olympic squad, with many feeling that regular number one Jody February should be given a chance to prove himself.

However, following a scintilating showing against Brazil in the opening match, which Owen Da Gama's side managed to play to a goalles draw, Komphela says it was the correct way to respond to those who questioned his selection.

"We say nothing to critics, we can only say 'bring it on, it will only make us better'," said the former Bafana Bafana defender.

"He has always done well. He has a great history, Eric Mathoho as well. When things like this happen, they always tell you that listen, whenever you face criticism it's meant to build you.

"And he said it himself that he is going to respond. He never responded [verbally]; the only response was on the field."

Khune and Mathoho will again feature when South Africa face Denmark, with two changes to the starting line-up, in their second Group A match tonight, at midnight.
