Chiefs last week unveiled their home and away strips for the upcoming season, sending social media into a frenzy over their bold new designs.

The home shirt, which retains the traditional black and gold colours of the club and also features a design inspired by a lion – representative of the Bataung clan – has been well received.

However, it is the rather unorthodox blue and yellow on the away shirt that has sparked plenty of debate on social media, and Baccus believes this is both modern and special.

"It looks exciting, modern and it feels good. The new home jersey has really grown on me. It’s electric, just the spark needed for the new season. It feels much lighter than last year’s jersey," Baccus reflected on the club's site.

"It was a bit of a surprise when I saw the new away jersey for the first time, as blue is quite an unusual colour for a Chiefs jersey. But it’s so modern, it’s really something special."
