Cape Town City owner John Comitis says Kermit Erasmus' behaviour against Highlands Park was totally unacceptable and he will take disciplinary action.
Erasmus was given a straight red card for a deliberate and foolish kick on Mothobi Mvala during their 1-1 draw at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday.
This left the Citizens with 10 men for more than two thirds of the match and probably cost them the three points in the end.
Comitis has indicted that he understands Erasmus’ situation but maintains the 28-year old striker cannot take the law into his own hands.
"I’m disappointed that he allowed his emotions to get the better of him," Comitis tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"I can understand why he was frustrated because he was being badgered continuously, you know. And on top of that the referee does not give him the protection he needed. That said, I feel what Kermit has done is not in line with the spirit of the game.
"I like it if my players put their bodies on the line and give their all. But there is a line you should not cross and I’m afraid he crossed that line, and I’m very disappointed. We as the club shall have an internal hearing to take action against him."
City travel to Port Elizabeth to tackle relegation-threatened Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday night and Comitis is under no illusion that maximum points will be guaranteed.
"There are no easy games in the league, especially at the business end of the season as teams are vying for honours and fighting off relegation. The top eight is so tight and it's a really exciting finish to the season."
