This has been confirmed by his representative Bally Smart amid talk of interest in the exciting winger's services, which includes Kaizer Chiefs.
Sekgota, who was one of Gavin Hunt's favourites when he was on loan at Bidvest Wits, will be a free agent come the end of the 2020/21 season.
"It is a short-term deal until the end of the season with Swallows," Smart tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"He is no longer on the books of Setubal and once the deal with Swallows expires, we will work a way forward. He is not on loan from Setubal. We are keeping our options open because we also have interest from some Portuguese clubs. He has done okay so we are keeping our options open.
"I have read about the interest from other clubs but what needs to be respected is that he is a player with a contract at Swallows. Whenever a player has some good games there is bound to be all this kind of talk," explains Smart.
Sekgota has been a livewire for Swallows playing down the wing and in the 14 appearances he has made has shown why he was taken to Europe as a teenager having only played third-tier football locally.
The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan from Vitoria Setubal, whom he joined from Lithuanian club FC Stumbras.
