Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has voiced his backing for teammate Leonardo Castro following their deadly combination witnessed against Mamelodi Sundowns on the weekend.
Billiat and Castro combined to score all four of Chiefs’ goals in their Shell Helix Cup win over Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, reminding fans of their ‘CBD’ combination that propelled The Brazilians to the 2015/16 Absa Premiership and CAF Champions League titles.

The Zimbabwean international, who assisted Castro’s hattrick before turning scorer off a pass from the Colombian, has since vouched for his strike partner’s quality and hopes it will lead to bigger and better things.
“[Castro] is a good player, we need him; everyone needs him and, you know, he has been working and guys have been supporting him; the coaches have been supporting him,” said Billiat.
“And we’re just happy that he scored those goals. As strikers, we like to score goals and that gives confidence. He hasn’t played much, and to score goals, I hope it will give him confidence going forward and he’ll be at his best, like everyone else.

“We all just need to work hard, like how he has been doing, and whenever you get your chance, you’re able to help the team.”
Asked which sort of qualities make for the synergy between himself and his former Sundowns teammate, the 29-year-old explained: “I think position-wise, he gets into spaces and he’s always aware of his surroundings, and it’s easy to run around him.
“He’s also good in the air, which helps as well. He’s a great player, man. So, it’s easy to play around someone who is very good.”
