Jonevret was left shocked by his side's performance as they conceded three goals in less than 30 minutes, with their defence torn apart on numerous other occasions.

"No [it wasn't frustrating], I was a little bit more surprised because I think – okay, we conceded one goal in every game since I arrived but – the defence have been okay, but I was very surprised in the first half," he told SuperSport TV.

"I think it's okay to lose games 1-0 or something, but to concede three goals in such ways – a stupid free-kick and we totally forget to mark the player – that's a little bit surprising, I couldn't believe that.

"They [Stars] were good. In the first few minutes we had them on the right side but then they scored that, if you look at the replay, crazy goal!"

The Swedish tactician conceded respect for Serame Letsoaka's side, who they will face in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 at the same venue in seven days.

"Respect to Free State Stars. I hope our players are a little bit ashamed of this [performance] and we'll go home and be back here next Saturday, and hopefully we can play a better game," he concluded.
