Royal AM advanced to the KZN Premier's Cup final with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Richards Bay FC at Chatsworth Stadium.

Royal AM took the lead in the eighth minute through Tshepo Liphoko with a fine finish. However, Simphiwe Mcineka bundled the ball home to draw Richards Bay level in the 34th minute.

Richards Bay took the lead for the first time in the match four minutes after equalising when Sakhile Hlongwa fired home a brilliant long-range rocket.

There was another twist in the tale as Royal AM won a penalty in the 68th minute and Tebogo Reed made no mistake from the spot to level the scores.

Royal AM held their nerve in the shoot-out to progress to the last four, where they will face Maritzburg United.

Maritzburg United have progressed to the semi-finals of the KZN Premier's Cup with a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory over Uthongathi FC.

Maritzburg had the opening opportunity in the first minute when Bongokuhle Hlongwane struck the bar with a curling free kick from just outside the box.

The Team of Choice were the side on the front foot as the opening quarter of an hour approached. And soon after, in the 17th minute, Fares Hachi’s effort was blocked on the edge of the box and Hlongwane pounced before he found the back of the net with a right footed shot.

However, Uthongathi hit back six minutes later when they drew level from the penalty spot thanks to Issa Sarr's effort.

Five minutes before the half-time break, Hlongwane beat his man down the left before firing in a left footed strike but it was tame and straight at the keeper.

Uthongathi took the lead in shock fashion in the 59th minute but Maritzburg equalised in the 72nd minute.

However, Daylon Claasen’s cut back from the byline was headed by Hlongwane back off the upright and into the goal off the keeper as the match went to penalties.

There Brandon Theron slotted the winning penalty into the bottom left corner to hand Maritzburg victory 4-2 in the shoot-out.
