Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lebohang Maboe says he knew that he would be able to fit in quickly when he joined from Maritzburg United.
In just his first season with the defending Absa Premiership champions, Maboe has been able to hold down a regular place in the starting line-up and is being pushed constantly by the amount of competition there is in the star-studded Brazilians squad.
He has bagged eight league goals, to go with five assists, and there are some who believe that he is worthy of being nominated for the PSL Footballer of the Season award.
The 24-year-old is not surprised that he has been able to fit in so quickly, because he believes in his ability. Some players who have joined Sundowns in the past have taken time to find their feet, but that was not the case for Maboe.
"Knowing the person I am and believing in my abilities, yes I did [believe I would fit in so quickly]," he said.
"I feel like I am doing great here and I’m happy with my progress thus far, because coming here I knew that it was not going to be easy for me.
"It was a challenge that I was really looking forward to and here I am now playing for the national team, which is something I was looking forward to for so many years. I’m glad that now I’m starting to find my feet."
Sundowns' next assignment is against SuperSport United in the Tshwane Derby on Wednesday. Kick-off at Loftus Stadium is at 19h30.
