Bacela is currently a free agent after being released by University of Pretoria at the end of last season. The former Bucs striker is expected to arrive in Cape Town on Thursday where he hopes to impress Eric Tinkler, having worked under the new City coach at Pirates.
According to a source close to City, Bacela has been given two weeks to prove himself.
"The club is looking for a player who is going to lead their striking force next season," the source revealed. "They have invited Bacela to have look at him.”
Bacela scored two goals in 14 starts for Tuks last term, as the capital club were relegated from South Africa’s top-flight. He was an important player for Tinkler during Pirates' run to the CAF Champions League final in 2013.
