KickOff.com can reveal that another sought-after midfielder has agreed to join Mamelodi Sundowns for next season.

As revealed last year, South African junior international and Real Kings star Luvuyo Phewa looks set to join Pitso Mosimane's squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

Phewa, who was part of South Africa's under-20 World Cup squad that participated in Poland in 2019, was heavily linked with Orlando Pirates last year and attracted interest from Highlands Park.

He was also courted by clubs in Poland, Turkey, Portugal and Germany following the FIFA tournament last year, according to Kings at the time.

The 20-year-old could now be unveiled by Sundowns before the start of next season if all negotiations are successfully concluded. However, an insider claims the deal is already done.

"Phewa is moving to Sundowns," a source close to Kings and the player tells KickOff.com.

"The deal has been agreed with him and Kings, but he will only join them before the beginning of the season.

"Remember, he was set to join Pirates last season but I won't tell you what happened. What matters now is he has signed with Sundowns."

Sundowns would not confirm nor deny the story while Phewa's representatives declined the opportunity to comment. Kings officials' phones rang unanswered.

The Brazilians have already snapped up several new players ahead of the new season including former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka, who is the only signing who has been officially unveiled.
