Kekana's foot landed just above Memela's knee in the second half when the two players were going for a ball which the Sundowns midfielder got to first and kicked away.

There was a cut above the knee after the follow through from Kekana, as Memela was taken off with a stretcher and replaced by Kudakwashe Mahachi in the 78th minute.

The Downs captain admits that he was worried for the rest of the game, which is why he went to the Pirates dressing room immediately after the game to offer his apologies to Memela.

"Fortunately it was a scratch. I was not happy and my match just ended because I was so sad. He went off with a stretcher, so I was not sure how he was doing. I went to the dressing room and found him showering because the rest of the team had not arrived and then I apologised. He said 'it's alright, it's just a scratch', Kekana tells Kickoff.com.

"I want to check on him again today and see how he is doing."

Memela spent over half of this season out with knee injury, so Kekana was concerned that his kick would keep the winger out for a while again.

"That's what had me worried the most. He just came back and then now he was being injured by me. I was relieved to see that he was fine."
