In an interview after the match between Sundowns and Orlando Pirates at Loftus Stadium where the Brazilians were beaten 3-0 by the Buccaneers, Mosimane questioned how Pirates had known about skipper Alje Schut's player registration card, which Bucs found had expired and subsequently played the match under protest.
Jingles's comments were deemed inappropriate and he was fined R100 000 (being the maximum permissible fine) of which R50 000 was suspended on condition that Mosimane publicly retracts the comments. He did so today.
“On August 27 I made certain statements that brought the League into disrepute. I would like to sincerely apologise," Mosimane says.
Sundowns was sentenced to a fine of R60 000 of which R30 000 was suspended on condition that the club, through its president Patrice Motsepe, put the matter to rest.
"We have an obligation to comply with the rules of the PSL, including Pitso," Motsepe adds.
