Mamelodi Sundowns are close to revealing their new R50 000 club logo after six new options were voted for via the club's website.

The Brazilians ran a competition over the past two months asking supporters to submit their designs aimed at 'upgrading and strengthening' the current crest in commemoration of the club's 50-year celebrations.

The winner of the competition has been promised a prize of R50 000 and voting closed on 28 October.

'The logo that got the highest votes was submitted by a designer whose drawing was based on the views and preferences that were expressed by the supporters at the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters AGM of 12 October 2019,' read a recent club statement.

'It is clear from the voting and from the AGM that the Sundowns supporters love the colour, history and appearance of our logo and that any upgrading and strengthening of our logo must be rooted and based on the colour, appearance and history of our logo and also the views expressed by the supporters at the AGM.

'The president [Patrice Motsepe] has therefore decided to give each of the 14 Sundowns supporters provinces that participated in the upgrading and strengthening of our logo R5 000 each, which must be used to attend Sundowns games.'

Motsepe held a meeting with the National Executive Committee and National Office Bearers on Friday, 8 November in Sandton, with an announcement likely to be made about the new logo in due course.
