Mamelodi Sundowns have temporarily relieved their first team assistant coach Manqoba Mnqithi of duty ahead of their clash with Highlands Park.
Sundowns have announced that Mngqithi will be absent from the bench again when they face Highlands in a catch-up league fixture on Wednesday evening.
The long-serving deputy to coach Pitso Mosimane has been excused following a bereavement in his family, with the club affording him time off to attend to matters at home.
Mosimane will be without his right-hand man, just as he was on Sunday against AmaZulu, with goalkeeper coach Wendell Robinson continuing to fill in against the Lions of the North.
However, Mngqithi will likely return in time for the much-anticipated encounter against Kaizer Chiefs set to take place on Sunday afternoon (15h30).
Statement - Coach Manqoba has had a family bereavement and has been allowed a few days off with his family. He has the full support of the Technical team, players, management, Board and the Club President. We wish him and his family all the strength during these trying times. pic.twitter.com/1YvQ6wvw1r— Mamelodi Sundowns FC (@Masandawana) October 21, 2019
