Mamelodi Sundowns suffer Wayne Arendse injury blow

The 32-year-old sustained the injury during the Brazilians’ 1-1 draw against Kampala City Council in their second leg Champions League qualifying clash.

“This is definitely not what I needed at this moment,” Arendse tells

“I was feeling in great form and really wanted to keep on playing. But injuries happen to the best of players and I’ll have to take it in my stride.

“Sometimes an injury looks much worse than what it really is and I’m hoping it will be the case this time round. That said, I would still have to work hard off the field to get back sooner.”

Sundowns also has the option to renew his contract for another year.

“Any footballer’s job is to secure his future and I’m no different,” Arendse explains.

“I need to thank the Sundowns management and technical staff as well as the players for their love and support and for making this possible. I will always fight for the club as it has supported me well during my career.”
