snl24.com/kickoff has learnt that Mamelodi Sundowns have cancelled their plans to sign Maritzburg United midfielder Daylon Claasen after the arrival of Lesedi Kapinga.
Claasen was on the wanted-list of Sundowns for next season as sources previously revealed the technical team wanted a player with similar qualities to Themba Zwane and Gaston Sirino.
This has now been achieved as coach Pitso Mosimane said after Kapinga was announced on Thursday that the former Black Leopards star ticks those exact boxes.

However, after the arrival of Kapinga to complete a flurry of midfield signings, Sundowns have now set their sights on signing a defender from one of the local teams in the PSL.
The Chloorkop-based side have already missed out on Thulani Hlatshwayo after the Bafana Bafana captain opted to join Orlando Pirates next season, while Anele Ngcongca has reportedly signed for KSV Roeselare in Belgium.

"There have been a few players including an unnamed Gabonese centre-back that the club is currently looking at bringing to Chloorkop next season.
"The club is expected to make another signing to bolster their defence in the coming weeks."

The Brazilians have already signed Grant Margeman and Luvuyo Phewa, who are 22 and 20 respectively. The club has not officially announced any of their signings who must still complete the 2019/20 season with their current teams.
