Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to go big this year with the intention of bringing both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to South Africa.
This website has learnt that Sundowns will try to secure Spanish giants Barcelona and Italian powerhouse Juventus as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
According to information gathered, Sundowns are working around the clock to organise the hosting of two of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Portuguese heavyweights FC Porto.
Due to Sundowns' tight schedule in both the CAF Champions League and domestic football, the festivities are set for July before the start of next season.
A Sundowns official who wished to remain anonymous confirmed the plans to have big celebrations to mark 50 years since the club's formation.
"Yes, the club is planning big celebrations. At this moment I can't give out information. But yes, they will be big celebrations to celebrate our 50th anniversary," the official tells KickOff.com.
The pre-season event could see both Ronaldo and Messi gracing South African shores for the biggest spectacle in local football history, provided the superstars do not take immediate time off after the European Championships and Copa America tournaments.
