Mamelodi Sundowns recorded an emphatic 7-0 win over La Passe in their CAF Champions League second preliminary round first-leg clash on Sunday.

Masandawana gave a first start of the season to Denis Onyango and featured Sphelele Mkhulise, Mothobi Mvala, Gaston Sirino and Marcelo Allende too after their goalless draw with Orlando Pirates.

Sundowns were off to a dream start seconds from kick-off when Grant Kekana towered above the defence in the six-yard area and nodded in the opener.

The Brazilians extended their lead towards the midway point when Sirino pounced on a delivery in the danger area and turned home comfortably.

La Passe continued to leave gaps at the back minutes apart and the Brazilians spotted this and bagged a third goal through a clever finish from midfield hard-man Mvala.

Masandawana made it four before the break courtesy of Aubrey Modiba’s smart finish shortly, minutes after Allende had a headed goal wrongly disallowed for offside.

The ruthless approach from Sundowns continued as Sirino peeled off a knockdown in the area from Khuliso Mudau and drilled in the bottom-corner a minute before the break.

It continued to rain goals for the Brazilians after the break where Mkhulise stabbed home from a decent move in and around the six-yard area, but the offside flag went up once again.

No less than four substitutions from Masandwana arrived soon after, with Bongani Zungu, Thapelo Morena, Cassius Mailula and Sipho Mbule introduced by the coaching staff.

Mbule would make his entry count shortly after coming on and finished off another impressive move by the South African champions to find his first for the club since joining at the start of the season.

The healthy cushion urged the Brazilians to go in search for more goals and it came when Mkhulise found space in the heart of the area and tapped in Mailula’s cutback.

No late drama from Masandawana nor their counterparts from the Islands of Seychelles came and the Brazilians cruised to a dominant victory.
